There was a pious man in Bani Israel and his wife was pious too, someone said him in the dream that these much years are left in your life now and the half part of this left life of yours will be spent in richness and half will be spent in poverty. Now it’s up to you that think and tell that whether the first half of your life shall be spent in richness and openness or else the second half? That pious man said to that man that I have a pious wife, she is the partner of my life, I’ll take her recommendation and then will tell. Morning appeared, he told the entire incident to her wife so wife said that ask openness in the first half, give priority to goodness and betterment, meaning that prefer it. Maybe God shows mercy upon us in future and make the entire life easy. In the second night, the same man came in his dream and asked that what have you liked for yourself? He said that in the first half of the left life, I chose happiness and openness. So he said that okay, same will happen. After that, blessings’ wealth started to come to him from every side of the world. When wealth got too much then wife said to him that help our innocent and needy relatives or if there is any starving or innocent person in the neighborhood and get their prayers. That man did the same. Doing this when the first half of his life passed, then the same man came in his dream and said that you offered thanks for the blessings of Allah and appreciated them, that’s why God has said to spend the remaining part of your life similarly, in the same blessings and openness.  (Taken from Qasas ul Ambia Qutbuddin)
